Making a massive 28 oscillator patch with the Moog Subsequent 37, Minitaur and Novation Peak
Published at : January 30, 2022
Something I have wanted to do for a long time was to try out how my 3 synths sounded as if they were 'one' monophonic instrument.
I chose a simple sawtooth with little more on all three synths.
So that makes for 4 Moog oscillators and '24' (3 x 8 unison) virtual oscillators from the Peak.
The Subsequent 37 and Minitaur have a ramp down sawtooth, while the Peak's is going 'up'. So that was a difference to start with.
I added a little bit of diverge, drift and finetuning and this created a really massive sound.
With some multidrive (subsequent) and distortion (Peak), the sound got even bigger.
Finally I moved the octaves around on some oscillators to make an even more wide sound. Something like a 'Wall of sound'.....
Now I'm not sure if I will be using this often (or at all), since it was massive, but not really practical nor 'needed'.
But it was nice to try and I'm sure I will try out other combinations to make more variations.
No effects were used. Not even compression (which I usually add).
