If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I am a huge fan and admirer of Indian food and culture. I love diving further into both and sharing what I find with you guys! So when I got the opportunity to attend my very first Diwali celebration, I knew I had to take you guys along with me. Come with me as I celebrate Diwali in America with my friend NinaUnrated!

In addition to Nina, I also brought along my dad Tomas and my friend and photographer Jesus! We’d be heading to The Oasis in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami for a local celebration hosted by The Oasis, Ikigai USA, Chapman, and Brickell Women. Diwali is one of the biggest Hindu festivals in the world and is known as the Festival of Lights. It’s all about good over evil, positivity over negativity.

Follow the team that made this event possible! Please join us in October 2022!!

This was going to be such an amazing experience! Outside were vendors selling bangles and doing henna tattoos. I bought some for my daughters and Nina got some as well! Then, I ran into my friend Sachin from Rupees (a local Indian clothing store) and Olga, a viewer who I filmed a video with! She’d be performing a Bollywood routine!

Then, we met Ravi, who makes paan liqueur, which I’d never had before. It was amazing and tasted exactly like paan! Then, we headed inside to get some food! My favorite restaurant, Bombay Darbar, had a booth where they sold dal, chana, chicken tikka masala, naan, gulab jamun, and more!

All of the food was stellar! Then, we got to watch musical performances by Ikigai USA, UJhoom, Nara Bollywood, DJ Ravi, Vidya Gosain, and Rajesh Bhandari and his band, and join in on the celebrations with lots of dancing!

They were so much fun to watch, and dancing the night away with my dad and friends was an amazing way to cap off my very first Diwali experience!

This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in Miami. I wish the night didn’t have to end! If you ever have the opportunity to experience a Diwali celebration in your city, I highly advise doing it!
